Pellet Fires Tasmania

Brand: Grace and Palazzetti
Details: 1/16 Goodman Ct, Invermay TAS 7248 | Phone: 03 6273 7644
This is where I’d recommend starting your search and honestly the best place to buy a pellet heater or fire from. Pellet Fires Tasmania (PFTas) has been selling pellet heaters in Tasmania for over 15 years, so they know what they’re doing. They’re not just another retailer – they’re direct importers, which means better prices and they actually understand the products they’re selling.
PFTas stock a wide range of pellet heater or pellet fires as they call them. They have the Chinese and European pellet heaters in freestanding and insert models but also stock hydronic pellet heaters if you want to heat your whole house through radiators or underfloor heating. The hydronic models are the next level in heating using pellets, ranging from 18kW right up to 50kW, so if you’ve got a big house or want to heat multiple zones, definitely check out hydronic pellet heaters.
In addition to a good range of heaters are reasonable prices they also service pellet heaters and carry a huge range of parts at affordable prices. This is very important because if your pellet heater breaks down in the middle of winter, you’re not waiting weeks for parts or paying through the nose. They keep parts for all models in stock unlike other pellet heater retailers who only order in parts as needed. Plus, if you want to service your pellet heater yourself like I do, then it’s great knowing they’ll have what you need when you need it.
Based on my experience dealing with them and what I’ve seen from other pellet heater owners, Pellet Fires Tasmania is the best place to buy a pellet heater in Launceston. Their support after the sale is excellent, their prices are competitive, and they actually know what they’re talking about. Plus, they’ve been selling pellet heaters for 15 years, so they must be doing something right.
Smart Living Centre

Brand: Piazzetta
Details: Suite 1/301 Invermay Rd, Launceston TAS 7248 | Phone: 03 6326 8780
The other place to buy a pellet heater from in Launceston is the Smart Living Centre in Invermay. They are a recent newcomer to pellet heaters and stock Piazzetta pellet heaters, which are absolutely gorgeous Italian-made units. If you want a heater that really stands out from all other pellet heater brands, this is where you go. The Piazzetta heaters are absolutely amazing – the build quality is excellent and they come in styles you won’t find anywhere else.
The downside? The excellent Piazzetta design can be very expensive. We’re talking a few thousand dollars more expensive than non-European models and even more expensive than other European brands like Palazzetti that Pellet Fires Tasmania sells, so they’re definitely at the premium end of the market. But if you’ve got the budget and want something special, they’re worth a look.
Smart Living Centre has only recently started selling pellet heaters (late 2024/early 2025), so they’re still getting up to speed. If you’re considering them, I’d definitely ask about their servicing arrangements and what parts they keep on hand. You don’t want to be stuck waiting for parts to come from Italy if something goes wrong. They’ve been in the general heating game a long time but have only just recently started selling pellet heaters.
What About Bass Pellet Heaters?
Unfortunately, Bass Pellet Heaters has closed down and gone out of business. They used to be a direct importer of a Chinese made pellet heater and started selling pellet heaters a few years ago. When a pellet heater retailer closes, you can be left high and dry when you need parts or servicing. This is exactly why I always tell people to buy from well-established retailers. It’s a good reminder to do your homework before buying – check out my article on questions to ask before buying a pellet heater for the essential things you need to know.
Understanding Your Options
Looking to buy your first pellet heater? It may be useful understanding how pellet heaters compare to other heating options like wood heaters and heat pumps. If you’re coming from a wood heater or considering a heat pump instead, read my comparison of pellet heater vs wood heater vs heat pump to see how they stack up. Every type of heating has it’s pros and cons and I take a look at these three types of heating to give you a better understanding of how they work and compare with each other.
My Recommendation
If I was buying a pellet heater in Launceston today, I’d buy from Pellet Fires Tasmania. They’ve been around for 15 years, they import directly so their prices are good, and their after-sales support is excellent. The range of heaters they stock should cover most people’s needs, from basic 6kW units right up to whole-house hydronic systems. They have a wide range of pellet heaters from small models and stock a Chinese brand which is very affordable but also carry the European Palazzetti if you want something that is high-end.
However, this doesn’t mean I don’t recommend the Smart Living Centre. They are the only place in Launceston that sells Piazzetta pellet heaters, so if you don’t mind paying extra and want a pellet heater that looks gorgeous, then definitely check out the Piazzetta heaters at Smart Living Centre. They’re beautiful units, but make sure you’re comfortable with the higher price and ask plenty of questions about ongoing support. The Smart Living Centre is a recent newcomer to the pellet heater business, so I’d make sure to ask about warranty, parts and servicing at the very leat.

Don’t Forget About Pellets
While you’re shopping for a pellet heater, ask about wood pellets too. Some retailers offer better prices on pellets than others, and you might find you can save money by buying your pellets from a different place. In Launceston specifically, you’ve got several options – I’ve written a detailed guide on where to buy wood pellets in Launceston that covers all the local suppliers and their prices. The good news is you can buy a pellet heater from anywhere and you don’t need to buy wood pellets from the same business. Mitre 10 and Bunnings in Launceston also sell pellets. My complete guide to wood pellets explains everything you need to know about choosing the right fuel for your heater.
Before You Buy
Do your homework before you commit to anything. Visit the retailers, ask questions, and make sure you understand what you’re getting into. The questions to ask before buying a pellet heater article I mentioned earlier covers all the important things to discuss with retailers.
Also, think seriously about your house. Is it well insulated? Any type of heater will struggle to heat a poorly insulated house efficiently, and you’ll end up spending more on heating than you should if your house was better insulated. Read will a pellet heater heat my house to understand sizing and what affects heating performance. Sometimes spending money on insulation first is the smarter move.
If budget is a concern, don’t overlook the used market. You can save thousands buying second-hand, but you need to know what to look for. My tips on buying a used pellet heater will help you avoid buying someone else’s problems.

Final Thoughts
It should be no surprise that I recommend Pellet Fires Tasmania to buy a pellet heater from in Launceston. However, whether you go for something from Pellet Fires Tasmania or splash out on a premium Italian unit from Smart Living Centre, the key is buying from someone who’ll be there to support you down the track. Take your time, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to visit multiple retailers before making your decision.
