Pellet Fires Tasmania – Your Best Bet

Brands: Grace and Palazzetti
Details: 108 Gormanston Rd, Moonah TAS 7009 | Phone: 03 6273 7644

When it comes to buying a pellet heater in Hobart, this is my top pick. Pellet Fires Tasmania (PFTas) isn’t some fly-by-night operation – they’ve been in the pellet heater game for over 15 years and have built their reputation the hard way, one satisfied customer at a time.

Why do I recommend them? A few reasons. First, they’re direct importers of pellet heaters, which means they’ve invested heavily into selling pellet heaters and aren’t just a reseller. Because of this they’ve got genuine in-depth product knowledge about their heaters, because they have to provide support to other businesses that sell them. Second, they do their own servicing in house. They have their own trained staff that visit customer’s homes and service heaters. Third, not only do they sell pellet heaters but also wood pellets. Both their Launceston and Hobart outlets carry pallets upon pallets of pellets. They understand pellet heater owners want wood pellets at affordable prices, and PFTas does just that.

In their Hobart showroom you’ll find a full range of pellet heaters – whether you need a simple freestanding unit for the living room, an insert to upgrade your existing fireplace, or a serious hydronic system to heat your entire home. The hydronic systems they offer put out a lot of heat – we’re talking 18kW to 50kW units that can run radiators throughout a large house or power underfloor heating. If you’re building new or doing major renovations, these hydronic pellet heater are worth considering.

Finally, PFTas stocks a large range of parts for all their pellet heater models. They keep everything like burn pots, fans, ignitors and more on hand and in stock. They are also available at very reasonable prices. When your pellet heater needs attention, there’s no waiting and pretty much everything is ready for pickup the day you need it. No waiting months for imports and because they are a direct importer and not a reseller there’s no ridiculous markups. If you are a DIY-minded person and want to service your pellet heater yourself, then PFTas is highly recommended.

So, yeah, I can’t recommend Pellet Fires Tasmania enough. They’ve got budget pellet heaters to high-end European models. Their staff actually understand the stuff they’re selling, their pricing is fair, and their after-sales support is second to none in Tasmania. Hunts Heating – Premium Italian Style

Hunts Heating pellet heater retailer in Hobart

Brand: Piazzetta
Address: 295 Main Rd, Glenorchy TAS 7010 | Phone: 03 6272 7018

A recent newcomer to the pellet heater market is Hunts Heating. While they’ve been in the heating game a while, they’ve recently started selling European pellet heaters. Hunts Heating specializes in Piazzetta pellet heaters from Italy. These are extremely high quality pellet heaters that, depending on how much you pay, are more than just heaters and would definitely be a conversation starter the first time anyone sees one in your house.

As with all European pellet heaters, the build quality on Piazzetta units is exceptional, with attention to detail that justifies the premium price tag. They offer designs you simply don’t get with the budget pellet heaters from China. Even the low-end Piazzetta models look amazing and overall they are very sleek and have a much more finished and refined design than Chinese pellet heaters.

Hunts does not focus primarily on pellet heaters, like PFTas does, so this means they carry a limited range and you are unlikely to see all available Piazzetta models in their showroom. However, as they are an official Piazzetta reseller they can access the full Piazzetta range, so if you see a model on the Piazzetta website that you like but they don’t carry then there shouldn’t be a problem ordering it in. However, just remember you will pay significantly more Piazzetta than you would for other brands. These are definitely luxury pellet heaters, not budget solutions.

For Hobart residents, having a local Piazzetta dealer means you’ve got someone nearby for warranty issues and ongoing support, which is reassuring when you’re investing in a premium appliance.

Clennetts Mitre 10 Kingston – The Unexpected Option

Clennets Mitre 10 Kingston outside

Brand: Piazzetta
Address: 29 Channel Hwy, Kingston TAS 7050 | Phone: 03 6229 8911

Here’s one that most people wouldn’t expect – Clennetts Mitre 10 stocks Piazzetta’s Superior range, though you won’t find this advertised online. You’ll need to visit or call to see what’s currently available and get pricing information. Like Hunts Heating, Clennetts is also a recent newcomer to the pellet heater game, so keep that in mind when thinking about spare part availability and how and how long you’d have to wait to get your pellet heater serviced.

However, I think it makes sense Clennetts would sell, at least on a small scale, pellet heaters. They have a very good reputation for their Mitre 10 wood pellets. and they are a popular retailer in Hobart to buy pellets from. If you’ve bought pellets from them before and are looking to upgrade your heater or have just moved house and need a new pellet heater, then definitely give them a look. The selection is limited compared to dedicated pellet heater retailers, but as a Piazzetta reseller you would have local access to parts and wouldn’t need to worry about any warranty follow-ups if required.

Making the Right Choice

Before settling on any particular retailer or model, if you are considering buying your first pellet heater and have never owned one before then spend some time understanding how pellet heaters fit into the broader heating landscape. Wood heaters and heat pumps are two other popular ways to stay warm in Tasmania but they all have pros and cons. Not everyone likes wood heaters and not everyone likes heat pumps. My comparison of pellet heater vs wood heater vs heat pump breaks down the pros and cons of each option.

If you are a first time pellet heater owner to be then you may also want to look at how much pellet heaters cost to run. While pellet heaters sit somewhere in the middle of the heating cost spectrum, it’s worth understanding exactly what you’ll spend each winter. Check out how much does a pellet heater cost to run for the real numbers to see what you’ll spend on wood pellets each year heating with a pellet heater.

Where I’d Shop

If it’s not clear already then I can’t recommend Pellet Fires Tasmania enough, especially if you are new to pellet heaters or pellet fires as PFTas likes to call them. Their experience, direct importing model, competitive pricing, and excellent support make them hard to beat. They’ll have options for virtually any budget and heating requirement. All their heaters, even the Chinese models, are very reliable and I personally own one. They also stock upper-end Palazzetti pellet heaters if you are looking for some different.

Now, if you are looking to buy a Piazzetta then you have two choices: Hunts Heating or Clennetts Mitre 10. While I recommend Pellet Fires Tasmania, they don’t sell Piazzetta heaters, so that’s the only reason I’d recommend Hunts or Clennetts. However, keep in mind you will pay a lot more for Piazzetta than Palazzetti, so be prepared to pay top price for their heaters. Just make sure you’re comfortable with buying from retailers who haven’t been in the game very long and I’d also be asking who does the servicing and what kind of spare parts they keep in stock.

The Fuel Factor

Another thing to consider is pellet prices and any benefits retailers may offer. I know that in Hobart only Pellet Fires Tasmania offer credits for buying wood pellets from them. Retailers typically have similar or very similar prices on pellets, but only PFTas offer 5% credit on wood pellet purchases. What this means is if you spend $100 on pellets they give you $5 credit that can be used towards pellet heater servicing. It might not sound like much but no other Hobart pellet heater retailers offers this kind of bonus. Having said that, Clennetts has built a strong reputation for competitive pellet prices in Hobart and do offer very competitive prices if buying by the pallet.

I’ve a good article on where to buy wood pellets in Tasmania and also a list of where to buy wood pellets in Australia if you live on the mainland. Pellet quality varies significantly between suppliers and brands. Poor quality fuel can cause operational problems and increased maintenance. My complete guide to wood pellets covers everything you need to know about choosing the right fuel.

Essential Research

Take time to properly research before buying any pellet heater, no matter the retailer. Visit their shop, ask detailed questions, and make sure you understand exactly what you’re getting. It’s important to ask about the warranty, servicing, spare parts and more. This will help avoid any unexpected surprises down the track that could have been avoided by taking the time to ask the pellet heater retailer a few questions before making a decision. Don’t always buy based on price alone. My questions to ask before buying a pellet heater article covers the critical topics to discuss with retailers.

Expanding Your Search

Interested in a pellet heater, visited the retailers in Hobart but looking for something a little more budget oriented? Don’t ignore the secondhand market. If you check Facebook or Gumtree, second hand pellet heaters do pop up in Hobart throughout the year. You can save thousands buying second-hand, but you need to know what to look for. My comprehensive guide on where to buy a pellet heater in Tasmania covers retailers across the state. Launceston pellet heater retailers article also details retailers up that way if you happen to live in Launceston or don’t mind making the trip north and want to do some DIY pellet heater work.

Wrapping Up

Hobart offers some good retailer options for pellet heater buying. I strongly recommend Pellet Fires Tasmania due to their competitive pricing, support, service and overall dedicatoin to selling and supporting pellet heaters or pellet fires in Tasmania. Whether you choose an affordable, practical unit from PFTas or invest in Italian craftsmanship from Hunts Heating or Clennetts, focus on retailers who’ll provide ongoing support.

Don’t rush the decision. Visit multiple stores, ask plenty of questions, and take time to understand what you’re buying. Yes, it’s a significant investment, but there’s nothing quite like relaxing in front of genuine fire heat during a cold Hobart winter.
