The Best Pellet Heaters in Australia for 2025

Why not welcome the new year with a brand new pellet heater. Picking a pellet heater can be difficult when there are so many different brands and models all with different features and functions. If you haven’t go read my previous post I made about the best pellet heater in Australia, if you live outside of Tasmania, but that article is a little bit outdated, so I’ve decided to write a new one. Below are what I think are the overall best pellet heaters to buy in Australia for 2025 for each category.

Best Budget – Palazzetti Malu 8kw

The Palazzetti Malu 8kw is an extremely affordable and quality pellet heater. It provides more than enough heat to heat just about any area, keeping in mind that most split system air cons heat at 5kw to 6kw, so 8kw is more than enough. While the hopper isn’t super large, 15kg or one bag of pellets, most other pellet heaters hold around 20kg, so there really isn’t much difference considering how affordable it is. If you have a limited budget, a small space to heat or just want to get your first pellet heater to see what they are like, then the Malu is definitely for you.

Pros:

  • Maximum 8kw of heat which is enough for just about anyone.
  • High quality Palazzetti brand with plenty of features

Cons:

  • Hopper could be bigger as 15kg means you’ll be topping the heater up daily in winter
  • 8kw of heat is enough for just about anyone but don’t go looking to heat the whole house.

Best Value – Palazzetti Bianca Lux 12kw

The Palazzetti Bianca Lux offers plenty of features and heat at a very reasonable price with European quality. A 22kg hopper will hold a bag and a half, more than enough for most people, and it can pump out a whopping 12kw of heat, which is enough heat for anyone. I wrote a review on the Palazzetti Bianca Lux a while ago but basically while there are other models on the market from Piazzetta, they can’t match the Bianca in terms of bang for buck. If I was to recommend one pellet heater it would be this one. It has everything anyone could ever need from a pellet heater and provides more than enough heat and all at a price that is very reasonable.

Pros:

  • 12kw of heat with a good sized 22kg hopper.
  • High quality European build

Cons:

  • 22kg hopper is big but it would be nice if it could hold more
  • Wifi is an additional cost and does not come built in.

Best Style – Piazzetta P945C

No surprise but Piazzetta in my opinion definitely takes the cake for style again this year in 2025. The P945C (Italian brand) is what I consider the best style but I understand this is high subjective. If you are looking for a heater that looks like a wood heater and will be the talk of the room when your family and friends visit, then this might be just the pellet heater for you. All that style comes at a price. 9kw of heat is enough for just about anyone but it only comes with a 16kg hopper, which is just over a bag of pellets. There are cheaper pellet heaters out there with much bigger hoppers and a lot more heat output for less money but they don’t even come close to how beautiful the P945C looks. If style is important to you and you want a pellet heater that really stands out, then the P945C could be right for you.

Pros:

  • Amazing design that looks like a traditional wood heater
  • More than enough heat (9kw) for most people
  • A good sized hopper (18kg) which holds just under one and a half bags of pellets

Cons:

  • Expensive considering other brand offer more heat and hopper size for less money
  • Style is subjective and some may not like the design

Best Insert – Piazzetta IP11

Again, just like style, the Piazzetta offers the best insert pellet heater. The main reason for this is Palazzetti does not sell an insert model, so there’s really not much choice. However, the IP11 is still a great insert heater. Despite being an insert, meaning the heater has to be compact to fit into small and tight spaces, you still get a good sized 22kg hopper and 11kw of heat, which is enough for anyone. You can get smaller models, such as the P9 and P7, which have less heat output and hopper capacity but are physically smaller if you only have a small open fireplace to use.

Pros:

  • 11kw of heat is enough for anyone with a large lounge or looking to warm up the rest of the house
  • Good sized 22kg hopper holds a bag and half of pellets
  • Priced reasonably considering it is a Piazzetta and offers good value for money

Cons:

  • Inserts are only suitable for open fireplaces

Palazzetti Pellet Heaters

If you’ve read the above recommendations then you’ll see a new addition to this years recommendation are a few models from Palazzetti. There are a few reasons for this. First, Palazzetti is considerably cheaper than Piazzetta. You can get a lot more in terms of features and functionality for a lot less money while still getting a top quality build. Piazzetta pellet heaters are, for the most part, expensive and just not something I could recommend to anyone unless style is important. If you don’t care about cost then definitely check out Piazzetta because they are beautiful heaters but also are just more expensive. However, if you want a pellet heater that not only looks good but has plenty of features, then the Palazzetti brand offers what I consider to be the best pellet heaters in Australia for 2025.

Where to Buy a Pellet Heater

If you live outside of Tasmania, then most pellet heaters are sold in Victoria and NSW. Check out my where to buy a pellet heater in Australia post for a list pellet heater retailers in each state. However, be warned that it appears many retailers do not actively or are reluctant to promote pellet heaters. Some retailers have very little or no information on their website despite having pellet heaters in stock to sell. So you may need to pickup the phone and call instead of just looking at what retailers have listed on their website. However, you can also find stockists on the official Palazzetti and Piazzetta websites.
